About Moduqa

designed to move with you.

Moduqa was founded in 2025 by Sem Mulders and Lars van Eijkelenburg — two product designers from the Netherlands. The idea came from a simple personal frustration: furniture that can't survive a move.

In the Netherlands, 247 million kilos of furniture is thrown away every year. Most of it ends up at the kerb not because it's broken, but because it no longer fits the new apartment, or because it fell apart during the move. The average Dutch person moves seven times in their life. Young adults, often every three years.

Moduqa was built for those people.

The system

At the centre of Moduqa is a floor-to-ceiling modular shelving system built around an extruded aluminium profile (6063 T5, black matt anodised) and a universal bracket. Every module — shelf panels, drawers, wine racks, hanging rails, shoe racks, book displays — connects to the same profile with the same bracket. No extra hardware. No special tools.

The system adjusts from 2.3 to 3.7 metres in height, fits rooms from 40 to 80 m², and can be reconfigured, moved, and expanded at any point. The slot pitch is 25 mm, giving you complete freedom over where everything sits.

Our target: 50 years

We design for a minimum of 10 full disassembly and reassembly cycles without quality loss. Our ambition is a 50-year product lifespan. When a part wears out, you replace the part — not the system. Every component is available individually and will remain compatible across all future Moduqa generations.

Where we sit

Moduqa sits between budget flatpack and premium heritage systems. Better quality and more flexibility than IKEA. More accessible than Vitsoe, USM Haller, or HAY New Order. Inspired by String Furniture, MOEBE, and the timeless logic of Scandinavian modular design.

Our values

Modularity. One profile, one bracket, unlimited configurations. The system grows with you — in height, width, and function.
Durability. Aluminium frames, powder-coated steel brackets, solid wood panels. Built to last, built to move.
Sustainability. All materials are recyclable. Individual parts are replaceable. We contribute to reducing furniture waste.
Affordability. A starter configuration from €849. Individual modules from €85.
